Re: Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist position
I am applying for the Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist position opening you currently have. I was referred to you by Nancy Davis, a medical assistant at John Muir, and a professional colleague of mine from our work at the American Association of Medical Assistants (Bay Area Chapter).
I have 10+ years working as both a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist. I am a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the AAMA. I also have a CPT-I and BLS.
Currently I work as a medical assistant in the Occupational Medical Clinic of Concentra Medical Center, working primarily as a Physician Assistant with additional phlebotomy duties. As my attach resume shows, I have a broad background in medical assisting and phlebotomy. My phlebotomy expertise goes beyond the normal medical assistant requirements, as I worked as a full-time phlebotomist for a number of years, and have taught phlebotomy procedures at Chabot College. Acute-care experience comes from my work as an MA at the Castro Valley Care Point Medical Center. I have a deep respect for the expertise and people that work in the John Muir medical network from my phlebotomy work at Muir Labs in Danville, and am excited about the prospect of continuing my MA career with John Muir.
in addition to my medical assistant know-how, I have strong customer service skills developed from jobs as a medical receptionist and medical office assistant earlier in my career. I have found the people side of this job -- getting a good sense of the patient, patient triage, gaining their cooperation -- is so important in medical assisting.
I hope that my medical assistant experience and related work as a phlebotomist is what John Muir is seeking. My enclosed resume has further details. I look forward to having the opportunity to discuss your medical assistant needs in person in the near future.
Sincerely,
Rachel Brockman
