Re: Medical Technologist / Clinical Lab Scientist position
I am a certified Medical Technologist with 3+ years of laboratory experience and am applying for the Medical Technologist / Clinical Lab Scientist position at your hospital advertised in last Sunday's Times.
My MT education, licensing and certification I believe meets your requirements:
- Current, unrestricted California CLS (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) License
- ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) certification
- Completed the Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology (CLS / MT) program from UC Irvine (one year, full-time program)
- BS degree in Biology from UC Santa Cruz
I have been a Medical Laboratory Technologist with Kaiser Permanente for over three years, analyzing samples from newborns to geriatric patients. I conduct chemical analyses of bodily fluids such as blood, urine and spinal fluid; perform hematological tests for red/white blood cell counts, hemoglobin estimations, sickle cell tests, coagulation time and more. Bacteriology testing and fecal parasite/ova identification are also common. In short, I can bring to you expertise in all facets of medical laboratory testing.
Careful attention to detail is critical throughout the testing process, I find: in the collection and transport of specimens, in maintaining proper QA policies and procedures, and in ensuring tests meet JCAHO and other regulatory requirements. Also, I am adept at troubleshooting technical equipment issues, and documenting laboratory procedures clearly and concisely.
Keeping up to date in the medical laboratory field is a must. I take ASCP CMLE workshops for continuing education, and carve out time for journal articles and online MT topics. As well, I am also an active member of the California Association for Medical Laboratory Technology (CAMLT).
A copy of my resume is enclosed. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to learn more about this Medical Technologist position and the career opportunities at St. Vincent Hospital.
Sincerely,
Thomas Bradley, MT (ASCP)
